Microsoft is launching its Dev Boxes this July, cloud-powered workstations that

Microsoft begins accepting pre-configured, ready-to-code cloud-based workstations in its Dev Box.

The company has been experimenting with Dev Box since last year’s Build event, and today it officially announces that it will become available in July 2023.First teased at the Build event , the Dev Box allows developers to access their apps and services in a cloud-connected PCs and is generally available as a free trial later this year.

Cangialosi says that at Microsoft, the onboarding process for Dev Box has already shortened from days to minutes; he notes that moving from an on-premises PC to a Dev Box took him less than 20 minutes.

Developers can configure Dev Boxes with up to 32 CPUs, 128GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage.
