Google will soon offer prewritten texts people in crisis can use to ask for help

Google will soon start displaying pre-written text messages that appear when people search for suicide-related terms.

The messages are supposed to help people start a difficult conversation during a mental health crisis and were created in partnership with the International Association for Suicide Prevention.

The message options will appear directly beneath the information for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which Google already surfaces when peopleSearch for suicide- related terms.

Suicide hotlines in the U.S. include: 1-866-488-7386 Inside the US: There are a number of suicide hotlines by country.
