See a Piece of Asteroid Bennu, the First Ever Brought to Earth

#shorts #asteroid #Earth #NASAs first-ever sample #lid NASA’s first-ever sample from an asteroid is on display at the Natural History Museum, but don’t get too excited, it’s just a little piece of rock. Scientists are having a bit of trouble opening it, but they did manage to get a little dust off it. The asteroid, Bennu, is a little worse for wear after its trip to Earth. It’s covered in black dust and debris, but that doesn’t mean it’s not still valuable. Scientists are hoping to learn more about how asteroids formed and how they might have helped to bring organic compounds to Earth. Bennu itself is a potentially hazardous asteroid, but it’s not going to hit Earth anytime soon. The most likely date of impact is September 24, 2182, but the chances of that happening are still pretty low. So, there you have it, NASA’s first-ever sample from an asteroid. It’s a little dusty, but it’s still pretty cool.
