This just in: some real small crystals called quantum dots won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry this year. Apparently these itsy-bitsy nanoparticles can glow different colors based on their teeny tiny size. Wild right? The three scientists who discovered them will split the prize money, but the dots themselves were unfortunately too small to make an acceptance speech. Scientists think these colorful micro-crystals could be used for solar power, electronics, and even medical imaging. But their discoverer said he doesn’t know what the future holds. Well, if these quantum dots have their way, it probably involves a lot more Nobel Prizes.
