New APT Group Red Stinger Targets Critical Infrastructure in Eastern Europe

Malwarebytes has discovered a new type of malware actor dubbed Red Stinger that’s been terrorizing Eastern Europe since 2020.

It’s been specifically targeting military, transportation, and critical infrastructure domains.

These are some of the areas that were targeted in the report.

A further four attacks occurred during the period from February 2022 to February 2022, coinciding with the onset of Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.

Kaspersky Lab documents the activities of this actor for the past three years.

The last known activity associated with Red Staringer took place in September 2022.The attackers used different layers of protection, had an extensive toolset for their victims, and the attack was clearly targeted at specific entities.

Malwarebytes describes the types of attacks it’s seen from RedStinger.
