Microsoft backs a plan to capture carbon dioxide emissions from a power plant.
Without the company’s support, the Norwegian company, Γrsted, wouldn’t have been able to install carbon capture devices.
The company expects that by 2026, they’ll be able to capture a total of 430,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.
They plan to bury the excess carbon dioxide they capture under the North Sea and sell credits to Microsoft representing each ton ofCO2.
Carbon capture technology is important for two reasons: first, it cuts down on greenhouse gas emissions, and second, it saves energy.
We don’t know yet how much money Microsoft will get paid for this particular project, but we’re guessing it won’t be very much.
