Microsoft has been fined $3.35 million for selling software to sanctioned entities and individuals in Cuba, Iran, Syria, and Russia from 2012 to 2019. The company failed to properly oversee who was buying their software and services, and certain Russian employees attempted to defeat the company’s due diligence efforts. Microsoft self-reported the violations and has made significant changes to their enforcement policies and measures.
