Mars May Have Been a Planet of Ancient Rivers

#shorts #scinews #science news #science #science max #Mars #rivers #water #erosion #landforms #habitability #life Good evening, I’m your host Arthurleson with a space update. New evidence suggests ancient Mars may have been a planet of rivers rather than the barren desert it is today. Researchers trained a computer model on Mars rover images and found landforms consistent with river erosion. This indicates there could be a lot more undiscovered river deposits out there. The findings paint a more optimistic view for past Martian life. Flowing water is so critical for life on Earth, so ancient Mars rivers likely supported more habitable conditions and nutrient cycles. Between this and the delta that Perseverance is exploring, it seems ol’ Red may have been a waterworld back in the day. Of course, we still have more geologic mysteries to unpack. But evidence keeps stacking up that Mars was once a lush, flowing planet ripe for little alien microbes to thrive. Maybe we’ll even find fossilized remains in an ancient streambed one day. So keep on roving, Curiosity and Perseverance. Your river-worn rocks and watery secrets give me hope we’ll discover Mars was the planet of life we’ve always dreamed it was. For Weekend Update, I’m Arthurleson.
