Israeli Logistics Industry Targeted by Iranian Tortoiseshell Hackers

At least eight websites, including those of shipping companies, were targeted by an Iranian threat actor known as Tortoiseshell.

The company believes the malware to be originating from an Indian watering hole.

This is not the first time Iranian activity clusters have set their sights on the Israeli shipping sector with watering holes.

Israel continues to be a prominent target for the state-sponsored crew as it is one of the most prominent targets for the Islamic Republic’s state-backed terror groups.

In fact, cybersecurity firm ClearSky reports that this is the third time in as many months that such an attack has been carried out against the Jewish community by this particular threat actor.

It also reports that similar attacks have been committed against IT providers in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
