How to Regulate AI: Everyone Wants to, but No One Can Agree

In October 2022, just a month before the scheduled release of ChatGPT, the Trump administration issued a paper called the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights.

This document lays out in detail what AI regulation might look like and what kinds of protections could be put in place to protect against its use.

The idea is to keep the algorithms in the attractive partner-to-humanity lane, with no access to the I-am-your-overlord lane , even though advances in artificial intelligence have made it possible for humans to interact with machines in ways that would violate their rights under any circumstances.

The White House has been very active recently in trying to outline what type of legislation might govern this new era of AI.
