How to Protect Your Salesforce Community from Ghost Sites

In a new report, security firm Varonis warns enterprises that poorly deactivated and abandoned Salesforce Sites and Communities could pose severe risks to organizations, leading to unauthorized access to sensitive data.

Such sites are often referred to as ghost sites because they are left lying around unused and unmonitored.

To mitigate the threats associated with ghost sites, companies are advised to keep track of all Salesforce sites and their respective users’ permissions.html

The company also recommends that enterprises set up an alert on all ghost sites and Communities when they no longer need them.

These vulnerabilities are not detected by vendors, they aren’t tested against vulnerabilities, and Admins fail to update the site’s security measures according to newer guidelines, the report says.
