Scientists checked out what’s inside those funky Sonoran desert toads to figure out why they secrete that far-out psychedelic stuff and how they make the gnarly 5-MeO-DMT. The researchers pumped 29 toady bellies near Tucson and found they feast on venomous ants and beetles, but turns out even mellow toads eat those critters and all the species secrete similar psy-slime. So the secret recipe is still a mystery, man. Don’t harsh the toads though – their numbers are shrinking faster than your mind on their goo, so be kind and let them do their thing.
