Elon Musk removes labels from Twitter accounts after outlets flee the platform

Twitter has removed the “government-funded” and “state-affiliated” labels from its platform, which led several news outlets to stop tweeting.

This change came after a “suggestion” from Walter Isaacson, the author of Elon Musk’s upcoming biography.

NPR, PBS, CBC, and BBC, who publicly criticized the move, no longer have the labels on their profiles.

Twitter has also taken down the page outlining its criteria for adding the labels.

Organizations such as NPR, PBS, and CBC have yet to decide whether they will resume their activity on Twitter.
