Apple CEO Tim Cook praises augmented reality every time

In August 2016, Cook makes a brief mention of augmented reality in a Washington Post profile.

He says that he thinks augmented reality is extremely interesting and sort of a core technology.

In February 2018, during Apple’s Q1 earnings call, Cook describes “great excitement” around augmented reality among customers.

Cook speaks about two technologies: virtual reality and augmented reality.

He likes their products amplifying thoughts and adding value to them, and he thinks AR can help amplify the human connection.

Augmented reality is the larger of the two [artificial-reality technologies], probably by far.

August 16, 2016; February 16, 2018; March 16, 2017; and February 24, 2018 are some of the most important dates in Cook’s career.
