Amazon Joins the Generative AI Race
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a platform called Bedrock, providing customers with access to cutting-edge language models from Anthropic and AI21, two startups developing language models that compete with those of OpenAI and Google. These models allow customers to build their own chatbots. Microsoft and Google have also made available AI language models through their own cloud platforms, Azure and Google Cloud respectively. With Bedrock, AWS offers Titan Text for generating text from a prompt, and Text Embeddings for a mathematical representation of text. Additionally, AWS provides access to Stable Diffusion, an AI model for generating imagery from Stability AI, a startup that is developing a range of open source generative AI models. This platform enables customers to easily deploy generative models, thereby creating demand for the basic tools needed to build applications.
