Woolly Mammoths Coming Back to Texas? Scientists Say It’s Possible

According to Colossal Biosciences, the world’s first de-extinction and species preservation company, they plan to have living, breathing mammoths at their Texas-based facility by 2028. That’s right, folks, mammoths are coming back! And they’ll be cold-tolerant, shaggy-coated, and just as cuddly as you remember them. Of course, some people are skeptical about this plan. After all, we’ve got a lot of other animals on the brink of extinction right now. Why are we spending time and resources on bringing back an animal that’s been gone for thousands of years? But Colossal Biosciences argues that the de-extinction of the woolly mammoth could actually help to halt, or perhaps even reverse, some of the effects of climate change. They suggest that mammoths grazing and roaming around the Arctic tundra will allow grasslands to thrive, which would help slow thawing and the release of stored greenhouse gases within the permafrost. So, there you have it. Mammoths are coming back, and they’re here to save the world. Or at least, that’s what Colossal Biosciences is hoping.
