Water Intoxication (Water Intoxication)

On Saturday, an interview with Guardians of the Galaxy and Parks and Recreation actor Chris Pratt caught everyone’s eye.

Pratt told Vanity Fair that part of his fitness routine involved drinking a glass of water for every pound he weighed daily.

That’s one heck of a lot of water.

Now, even though IFLScience isn’t responsible for content shared from external sites, it nevertheless helps to warn the public about water intoxication, also known as water poisoning.

Water intoxication, or water poisoning, is the sometimes fatal result of drinking too much water in too short a time period without taking in the electrolytes necessary for normal function.

It can also result from medical conditions such as liver disease and kidney problems.

If not treated, water intoxication can result in seizures, delirium, coma, and sometimes death.

Although it sounds scary, most people can avoid water poisoning by drinking usual amounts of water and avoiding excessive drinking.
