The animal world is full of unusual species, from tarantulas with electric blue hair to deep sea octopuses hidden beneath the waves.

Nowadays, zoos and breeding facilities often breed hybrids between two different species that otherwise would never come across side by side in nature.
A liger is a lion hybrid bred with a female tiger, whereas a tigon is offspring of a male tiger and a female lion.
Ligers and tigers have been bred to create ligers and tigons, respectively, which can be quite different from their parents.
Some animal rights groups argue that breeding these hybrids is unethical and inhumane.
Others claim that these animals take up space that could be used for conserving other species.
