His goal was to find the average value of the Milky Way to determine how our galaxy compares to others we can see. In this story, they attempt to do so by averaging data from 200,000 galaxies across the Universe and counting stars in red stars. The overall results are quite promising: Although star formation in the early Universe did not occur that long ago, red stars dominate, creating an average shade that marks a galaxy in decline
