The Sun is not as big as we thought! Physicists are in a tizzy because different ways of measuring the Sun’s radius are not giving the same answer. The official radius is 695,700 km but a new study says it’s actually 80 km bigger. This could mean that our model of the Sun is not exactly correct. Or it could be that the solar cycle is messing with the measurements. Either way, it’s a big deal for astronomers and physicists. But for the rest of us, it just means that the Sun is even more awesome than we thought.
