The Fish and Wildlife Service announces that 21 species have been removed from the list of threatened animals and plants, and only one is taken off for a good reason. Of the 21, ten are mammals, and the Little Mariana fruit bat has been lost along with ten bird species. Two fish species have also been declared extinct, as well as several species of mussels. The proposal also included the ivory-billed woodpecker, but the Service will continue to analyze and review the information before deciding whether to delist it.
