Jordi Ribas and his team at Microsoft have achieved incredible success with the introduction of Bing chat, a search tool that combines the general knowledge and problem-solving abilities of OpenAI’s GPT-4 language model with Microsoft Bing search engine.
The project has driven hundreds of thousands of new users to Bing and demonstrated Microsoft’s nimbleness during a time when Wall Street scrutiny of management has increased.
Despite criticism that AI-crafted misinformation and other potential harms could occur, the team is continuing to develop the system and have seen positive results with a 12% increase in Microsoft shares since its introduction.
