Vietnamese public companies have been targeted by an actor named REF2754 who has deployed a backdoor called SPECTRALVIPER.
This new piece of malware brings a bunch of new capabilities to the table that include file-passing, file-injection, and token impersonation.
It’s also really sneaky–like a Trojan horse for cyberespionage.
Elastic Security Labs spotted the campaign in a Friday report.
Backdoors are pretty rare in general, so this is a big deal.
Here’s why: You can’t hack private companies because they’re not protected by antivirus.
They’re often attacked by actors who don’t know about the protections offered by vendors like AVG/Elastic or Malwarebytes.
