These seals have been fitted with devices that record depth, temperature, and conductivity, and the data they collect is helping scientists to map the seafloor in Antarctica. In fact, the seals have even discovered a new deep ocean canyon that is 2 kilometers (1.3 miles) deep. Thanks to these furry friends, we’re learning more and more about the hidden depths of the ocean.
