Rafflesia Arnoldii, also known as Rafflesia

Most of the species of Rafflesia, a family of parasitic plants known as corpse flowers, are in danger of extinction, according to a new study.

The authors recommend a strengthened taxonomic framework and a cross-regional approach to save some of the world’s most remarkable flowers.

They also recommend thatIndigenous peoples be key to both finding and conserving these plants.

Rafflesias are used in ethnobotanical medicines as well as in Eastern and West Java Botanic Garden as a source of best practices for propagation.
