PayPal: Layer-2 Blockchain Patent Applications

In order to further develop its research into the cryptocurrency ecosystem, PayPal has filed several patents covering a range of topics from mining and distributed ledgers to peer-to-peer payment systems.

The company has also released a stablecoin pegged to the Ethereum blockchain called the PYUSD stablecoin.

In August, the company announced that it would begin accepting payments in dollars using the currency.

As part of this effort, PayPal rolled out a new service called the Cryptocurrency Hub, which allows users to hold and transact in various cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin.

It will also allow them to buy, sell, receive, and send cryptocurrencies.
