Microsoft is on a slow-burn path to making Paint a useful tool for actual creators .
Today, it rolls out an update that adds support for layers and transparency.
These features have been available in Adobe Photoshop, but now they’re coming to the free version of the Windows app.
In the new version of Paint, users can use the basic functions for working with layers in order to create more advanced art.
Additionally, image transparency is added, allowing them to save transparent PNG files with no backgrounds.
I know, this may seem like a win for Windows users who just want easy image manipulation without the pricey subscriptions attached to software that’s really designed for working pros.
