OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman wants to build a “magic intelligence in the sky” that he calls AGI. But what exactly is AGI? No one really knows, not even Altman. He describes it as a “superintelligence” that will “outperform humans at most economically valuable work.” But he also says it will be a “beneficial” force that will “help all of humanity.”
Sounds like a god-like entity to me. And Altman isn’t the only one who thinks so. Elon Musk, another OpenAI cofounder, has said that AGI is “basically a digital god.”
So what’s the plan for this new god? Altman says that AGI will be used to mine and refine minerals, all without the need for human labor. Sounds like a utopia to me.
But there’s a catch. This “magic intelligence in the sky” is going to be extremely expensive. And Altman is looking for more investment to make it happen.
So there you have it. OpenAI is building a god-like entity that will be used to mine minerals and refine them. And it’s going to cost a lot of money.
