On paper, Shear seems like the perfect fit for OpenAI. He’s committed to protecting the company’s AI efforts and aggressively promoting the technology in public, unlike Altman and his ilk. However, we’re starting to have some doubts about his commitment to openAI when we hear things like this: The Nazis were very evil, but I’d rather the actual literal Nazis take over the world forever than flip a coin on the end of all value, he once wrote. We don’t think the 40-year-old Twitch cofounder believes that women have a deep desire to be raped, but it also makes us wonder what he thinks in private and how safe OpenAI will be in his hands.
