The Center for AI and Digital Policy has filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission alleging that OpenAI is violating the FTC Act with its releases of large language AI models like GPT-4, which are said to be “biased, deceptive” and threaten privacy and public safety. The Center hopes the FTC will investigate OpenAI, suspend future releases of large language models and create an incident reporting system and formal standards for AI generators. This could improve accountability, but could also slow the rapid pace of AI development.
