New Telegram Bot “Telekopye” Used to Power Large-scale Phishing

A new financially motivated operation is leveraging a malicious Telegram bot to help scammers scam their victims.

Jizba explains how this works: The attack chains proceed thus: Neanderthals find their mammoths and try to build rapport with them, before sending a bogus link created using the Telekopye phishing kit via email, SMS, or a direct message.

The phishing domains used to host the pages are registered such that the final URL starts with the expected brand name — cdek.id7423.jizba .

This checks the Neanderthal’s balance, final request is approved by the TeleKopye administrator and, finally, funds are transferred to the NeanderTHANETHAL’s cryptocurrency wallet.

Jizbas recommends that webmasters with the highest privileges should add phishing web page templates and alter payout rates.
