Researchers have discovered a trio of new side-channel attacks that can be used to compromise modern CPUs.
The attacks, called Collide+Power, Downfall, and Inception, involve hijacking the transient control flow of return instructions on all AMD Zen CPUs.
They exploit a previously discovered security vulnerability affecting AMD’s Zen 2 architecture-based processors.
Google has also disclosed CVE-2023-20593, which allows an attacker to bypass the software-hardware boundary established in modern processors, according to the authors of the papers.
Intel provides more details on the specific vulnerabilities they’ve found.
Β΅More recently, security researchers have demonstrated how to use Zenbleed, a less vulnerable security vulnerability, to gain access to personal and cloud computing data.
