The goal of this paper is to explore the power of machine learning and to predict the future using its own reasoning and deterministic explanations of its actions.
The author speculates that a tool-using artificial intelligence could someday be able to perform tasks that humans cannot perform, such as placing an order on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk or delegating a task to a human on Reddit or Quora.
Such a tool would then have the ability to analyze its own decisions and offer explanations of why it chose the answer it gave.
If given the tools and the human feedback it needs, this tool could even generate specialized knowledge that isn’t yet captured on the web.
But currently, says the author, most AI tools can’t place the order, not even online, and there aren’t any other options.
By combining these capabilities, though, a tool-using AI could do it all.
