According to folklore, crows have rituals when a bird dies.
People think of these rituals as being a murder of crows , but the truth is that crows hold their own kind of funerals.
They gather around other crows that have died, which is why people think of them as crows-murdering crows.
Crows are more curious about death than humans, and one study put crowsβ fear of death and danger to the test by getting people to don masks and walk around carrying taxidermy birds that would look dead to local crows.
The birds built an association between the face of the person with the mask on opposite sides of the crows’ faces and crow death. .

One study looked at how crows react to people carrying dead pigeons.
They scold when they see people near feeding stations, but they didn’t care as much when they held dead pigeONS.
