MITRE has released its annual list of the most dangerous software weaknesses for the year 2023.
It includes both Out-of-bounds Write bugs and ones that lead to serious vulnerabilities in software.
Out-OF-Bounds Write ties for the top spot on the list for the second year in a row, taking the number one spot previously held by Meltdown/Spectre.
The list is based on an analysis of public vulnerability data in the National Vulnerability Data (NVD) for root cause mappings to CWE weaknesses for the previous two years.
Out-of-bounds write also topped the list in 2022, making up a large portion of the total of the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog.
