Microsoft has finally started testing a dark mode for the Paint app in Windows 11.
It was first teased two years ago, and now it’s being tested in both the Canary and Dev Channels for Windows Insiders.
Other improvements to Paint include updated dialogs that match the Windows 11 style and improved accessibility shortcuts.
Microsoft deemphasized 3D Paint instead, a modernized version that was intended to replace the traditional Windows Paint app.
The company also introduced an update to the 3D paint tool that was meant to be a more advanced version of the classic Windows Paint application.
Like most other apps, Paint will automatically switch to the dark mode based on your system theme.
You can also manually enable the dark modes in the settings page inside Paint.
