According to a report by 9to5Google, Meta is shutting down its Messenger Lite app for Android in September.
The app will be replaced by the main Messenger app.
Meta confirmed the closure in a statement to TechCrunch.
Users will now be directed to Messenger or FB Lite to send and receive messages on MessengerIf you have an account with the company, you can continue to use the Messenger app for free until August 21st, but no updates will be sent to your account starting that day.
We do not know if this is a permanent roll-out or a one-time restriction related to the launch of a new messaging service called Fb Lite.
In the meantime, the company has provided a guide for people who want to make sure their messages get delivered to the right person.
