This story is all about spiders.
Check it out: scientists have discovered a new genus and species of arachnid fossils dating back to the Miocene, which is the period from 23 to 5 million years ago.
One of the new spiders is Megamonodontium mccluskyi, named after the U.S. man who discovered it.
Its kind of brush-footed trapdoor spider that would’ve hunted by ambushing prey that made the mistake of walking within reach of its camouflaged burrow.
The study is published in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society.
