ISS Astronauts Drop Toolbag in Space: See It With Your Binoculars!

#shorts #ISS #binoculars #darkish skies #6th magnitude Last week astronauts dropped a toolbag while working on the ISS. Don’t worry, you don’t need a telescope to see it, just some binoculars and darkish skies. The toolbag is tiny, but it’s reflective enough to be seen from Earth. It’s moving at the same speed as the ISS, so it’s easy to spot if you know where to look. The ISS is only visible when it’s dark on the ground, but sunlight is still (or already) catching it thanks to being more than 400 kilometers (248 miles) above the Earth’s surface. That means it’s usually best seen when the skies are not fully dark, even if you can avoid the effects of artificial lighting. So next time you’re out stargazing, keep an eye out for the ISS and its lost toolbag.
