Grimes: I think it’s possible that generative music–fully generative Music could be really bad.
Like, I kind of want to do dangerous art things and see where it’s actually damaging.
When Pitch asks what he’s doing, Grimes says he’s approaching it amorally and approaching it more as an experiment.
He doesn’t approach it morally, he says, you’re not approaching it morally, but rather approaching it experimentally.
Meaning, he’s testing the limits of what he can achieve with this new form of music-what he calls generative music -and seeing where it might lead him.
This is one of the first times we’ve heard a musician speak about his/her personal philosophy directly, and it’s interesting.
