With iOS 17, Apple introduces a new smart home feature called Grid Forecast.
It will allow you to see when your electrical grid has become cleaner, or less clean energy sources available.
This could help you decide when to run your tumble dryer or charge your EV to take advantage of cleaner energy.
Using cleaner energy in the home can reduce the carbon footprint on the planet.
While Apple’s first implementation of this feature is entirely manual, future versions of the app may automate this feature automating smart home devices would make it possible for you to look at a graph of energy sources and know when it’s safe to charge your electric vehicle (EV) and when there’s not enough clean energy available to charge it.
