Google has halted construction on its “Downtown West” campus in San Jose, California, which was slated to become 7.3 million square feet of offices, 4,000 housing units and 15 acres of parks.
The project had the potential to be worth $19 billion and create 20,000 jobs.
Google is currently trying to reduce its office space and has laid off 60 employees from its chief contractor.
Sources are optimistic that the project will still happen, but it may not reach the scale originally planned.
