Google’s cookie-replacing Privacy Sandbox reaches general availability

In a press release, Google announces that the APIs for Privacy Sandbox, its privacy-preserving alternative to tracking cookies, are now generally available in Chrome.

Most Chrome users shouldn’t notice a noticeable difference in their browsing experience, but it’s intended for developers.

With the APIs now generally availability in Chrome, devs and advertising providers can assess readiness for the planned deprecation of third-party cookies at scale across their products and services.

Google’s Chrome browser is one step closer to achieving its goal of phasing out third party cookies by the end of 2024.

The company also says that it’s made the APIs available by default in Chrome without requiring anyone to set any browser flags or participate in a trial.

That said, you should be able to use them yourself if you want.
