GoldenJackal – A worm that’s engineered to infect systems using removable USB drives and install the JackalControl trojan.
This group of cybercriminals has been active for at least four years, although little is known about the group.
Their main attack vector is a worm that can find files stored in removable USB devices and transmit them to a remote server.
They call this piece of malware JackalWorm because it looks like a worm but it actually has an implant that allows it to find files of interest and send them back to a central server.
Examples of this kind of worm include: Jackalworm.exe which is used to find malicious files in removableUSB drives and share them with other malicious parties on the web.
