Metaverse Fashion Week was a showcase of what fashion brands can do in virtual worlds, but it also highlighted how much more needs to be done.
Metaverse Fashion Week was an event in Decentraland where 60 fashion brands showed off their digital architecture, clothes, and fashion vibes. Despite the impressive list of brands, the event lacked the energy and life found in other virtual worlds. Many of the spaces were drab showrooms and the world lacked interactivity, but the closing party was a success with avatars grooving on a virtual dance floor and a human DJ playing on a big screen. While fashion brands are exploring what’s possible in virtual social spaces, Metaverse Fashion Week proved there is still a lot of work to be done.
