VanEck prepares to launch an Ethereum strategy ETF on the CBOE.
The fund, called the VanEck Ethereum Strategy ETF, will primarily invest in ETH futures contracts.
It will be traded on commodity exchanges licensed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and will focus on ETH futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Similar products have been launched by several other asset managers including Bitwise, Grayscale, Proshares, and Roundhill.
The SEC has yet to approve any spot bitcoin ETFs.
However, reports suggest that the SEC may commence approving Ether futures ETFs in early October, which would indicate an increase in interest among asset managers eager to participate.
