Elon Musk’s personal lawyer, Alex Spiro, accuses Microsoft of violating Twitter’s developer agreement, as reported by The New York Times.
Twitter had previously used the free Twitter APIs to share information between its apps and websites, but Microsoft began pulling support for those APIs in April.
It also recently removed clip sharing from Xbox One.
In response, Twitter demands a broad swath of information from Microsoft about each app and how it used Twitter data by June 7th.
Microsoft says in a statement to the NYT that it looks forward to continuing our long term partnership with the company and doesn’t currently pay Twitter for data.
This is similar to what Facebook said in an interview with The Verge earlier in the week; it doesn’t charge Twitter for API access to its data.
