Earth’s Magnetosphere Exposed by a Solar Storm

#shorts #SARs #SAR activity #auroras #STEVEs Strong geomagnetic storm** Thanks to a major **coronal mass ejection** (CME), people all over the world got to see some **unusual** lights in the sky this weekend. **Auroras**, **SARs**, and **STEVEs** were spotted **as far south as Italy**. **SARs** are **red** and **STEVEs** are **purple**, so if you saw either of those, you didn’t see an **aurora**. **STEVEs** are **sometimes** accompanied by **green** **picket fence** **auroras**. **If you** live in the **northern** or **southern** **hemisphere** and you **can get away from city lights**, you might be able to see **more** **lights** tonight.
