Yo, check it out. The Great Sphinx of Giza, you know, that big ol’ dude with the lion body and the pharaoh head? Turns out it might not have been built by humans at all. Scientists think it coulda been shaped by the wind! That’s right, the wind. You know, that thing that makes your hair all fly around and your hat blow off? Yeah, that thing. Crazy, right?
So, how could the wind have done that? Well, scientists say that there are these things called yardangs that are formed by wind erosion. They look a lot like the Sphinx, so they think maybe the Sphinx is just a really big yardang. And if that’s true, then that means the ancient Egyptians didn’t have to do anything! They just found a big ol’ yardang in the desert and said, “That’s a cool-looking rock. Let’s call it the Sphinx.”
So, there you have it. The Great Sphinx of Giza, one of the wonders of the world, might just be a big ol’ rock that the wind blew into shape. Who knew?
