At the RSA security conference in San Francisco this week, the potential impact of generative AI on digital security and malicious hacking has been a hot topic.
Rob Joyce, NSA cybersecurity director, gave his State of the Hack presentation where he discussed how attackers can use generative AI to develop and spread malware, fuel the creation of misinformation, and automate their hacks.
At the same time, the security community is exploring ways to use generative AI to defend systems and gain a protective edge.
Joyce warned the security community to be aware of the potential for AI to be manipulated and exploited, and emphasized that we should expect to see examples of this in the near future.
